One Missed Call - Horror Movie- Trailer 2008 - Remake

This is the film poster that goes with the film trailer. This poster is very effective as the subtitle 'what will it sound like when you die?' is a rhetorical question, as no one will know what it sounds like, this is why this poster has an impact on the viewers as it leaves them thinking. But the main focus is the centered image, with the background being jet black the main image stands out even more. The image also gets the viewers thinking, as it is not obvious that the eyes of the 'creature' is two peoples mouths, this adds and edge to the poster as plays with the viewers mind.

This trailer is good because before any images of the film are shown, it already beings with sound effects which build the suspence for what the trailer has to hold. Also I like the way the sound effect of the a keypad is played when writing is showN in texted form on the trailer, this gives a sence of insecurity as you do not now what to exspect. Another aspect I like from this trailer is how it is edited, for example how it cuts from the main character back too blue background and writing in text form, as well as cutting from scene to secene it has the effect of fading between each one, this adds to the tension within the trailer as it carrys on building up. The use of special effects as well has a great impact on the trailer as it is used every so often, you are not antisipating for it to be used, so when it does it, it again builds the suspence atmosphere. over all I believe that the most effective section of the whole trailer is the ending sections where jump cuts are used constently, in way it releases the build up thats was gaining throughout the trailer, then as it flicks back to normal pace, it gives a sence of ease for the rest of the trailer until it again speeds up and ending with the character sreaming, this gives a insecure feeling as well as the same use of sound played over and over again in different sections shows a flow of the trailer. I have gained a lot ideas from this trailer therefore I will pick and choose the sections I like the most and bring it in to my trailor.

"Insidious": Official Trailer

As well as looking at Horror movie trailers, part of our A2 work is to create an poster. This is one linked to Insidious. This poster is effective as it uses dark colours, even where the boys top is meant to be red, it over taken over by deep shades of the red. Its also effective how the whole poster reflects on the film, for example the clouds used for the weather suggest gloomy. Over all it is a good poster to be used even though it shows the main focus of the film, The house and the main character, the boy with his eyes edited to look abnormal.

This is another trailer focusing on the genre of horror. I like the flicker of words at the beginning of the teaser, before clips of the film are used, I also like the sound effects put in with the words as it creates an atmosphere. The use of quick cutting within this teaser trailer also adds to the build of tension in wanting to know what is going to happen, as well as making the viewer feel on edge.

The Ring Official Trailer HQ

This is the film trailer for The Ring, within this trailer I like the way it is edited, I like the quick cuts which adds suspence and builds tention.This trailer includes non-diegect sounds such as voice overs, from the main characters which are effective as it gives a brief understanding of the storyline for the film. Also I like how from the begining the trailer includes text such as ' THERE IS A VIDEOTAPE' 'IF YOU WATCH IT' 'SEVEN DAYS LATER' 'YOU DIE'. All which is split up in different sections of the trailer.The shots used such as close up, all add to the tention. But most of all I like how inbetween different cuts the effect of the video tape fuzing because it defines the whole meaning of the film.

Paranormal Activity - Official Trailer 2 [HD]

At the moment I am researching different horror/suspence film trailers, to gather what sections they use like the effects and sounds effects. I will carry this on when I create my own horror/suspence trailer.

For example this trailer here is from the film Paranormal Activity. This is a film, which is then followed by the sequel Paranormal Activity 2. This trailer I like as it tells the story well, but not giving the plot away. This trailer adds suspence throughout, and making clear that it is filmed using hand held camera, brings the viewers in. The sound effects used in the background highlight the main sections as well as adding suspence.
