grave encounters trailor

This poster for the Grave Encounters is effective due to the use of the dominant two colours, black and green. I believe they did this as the film is based in the night time so gives the effects of 'night mode' on the camera. The main picture they have as well is good as it gives the sense of being alone and neglected, with all the tense atmosphere around. The camera placed on the ground in the direction of the actor has a significant meaning because the viewers already know that the film is a documentary film.

The opening section of trailer is very catching and unexpected so it brings the viewer in to the trailer. The edit of quick/jump effect, makes the beginning of the trailer dramatic even though you can tell it is daylight. Also the story line is clearly shown as the main character announces "Welcome to another episode of Grave Encounters", this leaves the audience feels tense as the whole scene with the old fashioned house behind him, they would feel on edge to what was going to happen next. A really good and effective edit is how they have flicked straight from daylight to the dark of the night, which makes the viewer have an different emotion to the trailer making them feel insecure as the voice over describes the history of the building, the text 'Collingwood Psychiatric Hospital Ryerson valley' also adds to the insecurity of the film as the viewer now knows what they are going to expect. The use of camera angles, such as panning and following makes the whole psychiatric hospital seem a lot more creepy and edge. The way6 the edits flick back and forth from the hospital now, to clips from the past is effective as it makes the viewer no that this place will hold major paranormal activity. The special sound effect makes the viewer feel vulnerable, as all aspects are combined as well as the use of night mode in the trailer. The build up at the end of trailer involving jump cuts and speed up effect makes the viewer lead into the unknown, as they do not no what to aspect. the scream to nothing is very effective as it lead into voices whilst you look at the black background with the title in white writing, which is centered makes the viewer vulnerable, the ending scene is extremely effective as it leaves the viewer on edge.
